Benelli is a 2nd generation pup from of our H.O.P.E line. We bred her grand-dam "Duchess of Adena" to TV Hank's son "Sillman's Hank Boy" (aka Hank Jr), she is the daughter of HOPE, thus keeping that bloodline alive. The most obvious origin of this gal's name is that Benelli is brand of shotgun. Like her mother's registered name, Benelli's is also full of hidden meaning... "Hickory's HOPE for Birds" - suggests when we are upland hunting, we hunt with our Benelli shotguns with the hope for finding birds, but we are also hunting with a dog named Benelli from Hank's bloodlines, where HOPE is not only her mother's name, but also an acronym for Hank's Offspring Produces Excellence.

Benelli is a Tri-belton Llewellin (White/Black/Tan). Her body was predominantly white in her younger years, but her black ticking has become very heavy over her body and thus is now darkly colored. Being a tri-belton, she also has a mixture of orange ticking on her legs and face.

Bull was a great grouse dog of tremendous stamina and will to find birds coupled with a superior nose and intellect. Bull made birds. He became a grouse dog with such desire and drive he was a handful. One thing only on his mind, "Find another grouse!". From his humble beginnings as a dog [hunting] too close, he emerged as a great one few men ever witness. Grouse dogs are at the very top of the realm of birddog excellence and he was at the top of this loyal order. -- Quote provided by Eric Jacobs |
